Chapter Eight
Day One
The Blood Trail
From the Community Board in Copry: There is a wild beast terrorizing our village. We need strong hunters to save us. The party makes its way to the village of Glidden and asks around, all of the townsfolk lament that 2 people (and some livestock) are missing. The beast hunts at night, but has snatched 1 person from the field in the early evening. Although no one has seen it trackers think it runs on two legs and hides in the deep woods.
The nearby home (in the deep woods) is now empty and the reclusive husband and wife are most certainly dead.
When the party arrives, another person was taken the night before. A trail of blood leads out of town and into the forest. Following the trail of blood, it ends at the cabin of the recluses.
When the party reaches the cabin, the carnage is evident. Blood and viscera surround the house. The party will notice that the most and freshest blood has pooled around the cellar door.
As they enter, the party smells death. The cellar is a large, finished stone room built for storage and provisions and seems to be a workshop to dye wool, but three bodies and pools of blood cover the floor. As the party goes into the room to investigate, they are followed by 2 werewolves and 2 dire wolves.
The beasts look very strong, but they cannot land a single hit and the party kill the monsters rather quickly.
Within the chests are various goods a human may need, including herbs (sufficient for Ickie), daggers, darts and arrows wrapped in oil cloth (all of the projectile weapons are +2 piercing), clothing and silks (worth 100gp if anyone wants to haul it all away), misc gear from a dungeoneer’s pack (a complete pack is in there, between the three chests), a gold monocle and chain and an ornate scabbard that fits no blade found so far.
The main house is unremarkable.
